Dear Family and Friends,
Thanks for your love and prayers over the last three weeks. We are still in Tennessee assisting in the care of my Mother as her life winds down. She has been under the care of hospice for almost a month, but is still with us. She is at home, and has the care that hospice provides, and our care. My brother Dwight and his wife Pat have led the way in providing care for her, but they need help now--so we are here. It is a work of love on our part. Many of you will understand because you have been in similar circumstances. I was reminded this morning that her lingering with us is an evidence that God is in control. She is in His hands, and when the time is right He will call her home. Until then, we will be in our place as a family.
August has been a good month for us. The highlight of the month was the retreats in New Mexico. Walker and Ann Sims always make this a blessing to us and to their friends who come to share in the retreats. I spoke to the group on WALKING BY FAITH IN THE LAND OF THE DYING based on 2 Corinthians 4:7-5:10. I did this while we knew about the crisis with Mother. How encouraging the Word of the Lord is in our time of need.
Our schedule for September will be partly determined what happens with Mother. Our schedule includes
September 15. Kauf Van Baptist Senior Adult Retreat, FBC, Terrell, Tx.
September 19-20 Lockett-Cornerstone Ladies Retreat, FBC, Lubbock
September 28-October 1, Spiritual Warfare Conference, FBC, Tulia, Tx.
Your prayers are so important!
We know for sure that there is a peace that passes understanding. I trust that the God of peace will fill your heart this peace as you face the difficulties of life. We will keep you informed as the situation with Mother unfolds.
