Prayer Letter
Prayer Letter
Dear Beloved Family and Friends,

It hardly seems possible that June is arriving. This means that May is in
the book. And it has been some month for us1

We began May in Romania. We have already shared with you about the
joy of dedicating the two new Churches in Oradea. Then there was the
privilege of preaching at FBC, Oradea, and a week of revival in the new
Rogerius building. The church was encouraged, souls were saved, and
the Lord was glorified.  We were so aware of your prayers as we
ministered. The Lord faithfully kept us in health and strength. Thank you
for your prayers. (The Rogerius project is complete with the exception of
the completion of a few things. But the Lord has continued to move on
the hearts of people to be a part of completing this.)

We then enjoyed a couple of days of vacation in Luzern, Switzerland,
which is Alice's favorite place. The snow covered mountains were
beautiful as we went around the lake from village to village (A six hour
trip!). We always enjoy the lakes and the mountains of Switzerland.
However, due to the drop in value of the dollar, you cannot tarry too long
in Europe. It buys less each time that we visit. This really worked against
the completion of the building projects. Paying five dollars for a small
glass of tea with no refills really bothers Alice, and paying almost five
dollars for a small bottle of water bothered me. You do not want to know
how much food cost.

We returned just in time to make Stephen's graduation from
Southwestern Seminary. We now have another Doctor in the family, and
we are grateful. Then we had a great Bible Study on heaven with Faith
Baptist Church, Wichita Falls. Scott Willingham is an effective pastor,
and this is a good church.

Upon returning to Lubbock, we were surprised to learn that my cataract
surgery had been postponed. However, the new date that they had
assigned me would not work on my schedule. So I have begun my 74th
year of life with limited sight in my right eye. We have a new date and a
new doctor for surgery on July 8. Thanks for praying.

This gave us some unexpected days to just relax and to enjoy some time
with family. But this last day of May finds us in Paris, Texas anticipating
the Lord's Day.

Lift us up in June as we travel and serve:

June 1, FBC, Paris, Texas, A.M. and P.M.
June 4-5, Alice's 50th College Graduation celebration in Memphis, Tenn.
June 6-14, Chinquapin--Visiting with Mother, and helping them welcome
a new pastor on June 8.
June 15-19, Adult Bible Study, New Prospect Baptist, Anderson, S. C.
June 22-25, Revival, Popular Grove Church, Elizabethton, Tenn.
June 26--Head Back to Texas by way of San Antonio for a few days with
John and his family.
June 28, Alice's Birthday! I am not sure what we will do to celebrate.

We will be traveling for the next five weeks, so pray for grace and
traveling mercies. You are always in our love and prayers.

Blessings!

D. L. and Alice
